TEES Valley Mohawks surged past Cardiff Celts to reach their first final in four years as they qualified for the Patrons Cup final.

Mohawks struggled to get a grip of the game in the first half, going back to the locker room 14 points down at the Col Glan Hafren Centre.

The second half saw a total turn around with Mohawks turning the game on its head and cruising to an easy win by 90-70.

The Tees Valley side will meet local rivals Team Northumbria who had the narrowest of victories against Northampton Neptunes by 97-96.

The weekend got off to a great start when the Teessiders eased passed Plymouth Raiders 68-60 with American Pierre Sully scoring 23 points to keep them in top spot.

The chasing pack all lost. Second placed Cardiff Celts went down to NEWI Nets in the Welsh derby by 79-77, third place Team Northumbria lost to Leicester Warriors 70-85 and fourth place University of Birmingham lost in another local derby to Birmingham-Aston Athletic by 83-79, leaving the Hawks four points clear.

Mohawks sides had a clean sweep of victories with the second team beating Ilkeston Outlaws 83-72 and the Under-18s overcoming Huddersfield New Centre 82-69.

The next home game is on Sunday, February 17, at Teesside University against Black Country. Tip off 4pm.
